We check
We match the report with the service that uses that IP address.
We act
We ask the customer to fix the problem or, when needed, limit or suspend the service at once.
We follow up
When it is useful and allowed, we let you know that the report was handled.
How we handle reports.
Urgent cases first
Child sexual abuse material, attacks in progress, phishing, malware command servers and threats to people are handled before anything else, and can lead to immediate suspension.
Identification
We find the service from the IP address and the time of the events, using our records of which service used that address and when.
Evidence
We keep the relevant evidence in a protected way and record our decisions. We never download or copy illegal material to check a report.
Upstream provider
When needed, we coordinate the response with the datacenter or network provider involved.
Reasons
When we restrict or remove a service or content, we tell the customer why, unless the law or an authority forbids it.
Appeals
A customer or a reporter who disagrees with our decision can write to abuse@carlhost.com. The case is reviewed and we give an answer.
